Protecting your privacy

Scotland Weddings respects the privacy of everyone who visits this site. This page explains what information is collected when you use it, and how it is used.

About this site

Scotland Weddings is an independent Scottish wedding-planning directory and resource. We list real venues and suppliers and link out to their own official websites — we do not run any of them, and we don't take bookings, payments or reservations directly through this site.

Data we collect

  • Contact form: if you use the contact form, we collect the name, email address, phone number (optional) and message you provide, plus your IP address, purely to respond to your enquiry. This is stored in a server-side log as a backup and is not shared with third parties beyond delivering the email itself.
  • Standard web logs: like virtually all websites, our hosting server automatically logs requests (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) for security and diagnostic purposes.
  • Analytics: if enabled, we use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site in aggregate. No personally identifying information is collected for this purpose.

Cookies

This site may set cookies for the following purposes:

  • Essential cookies needed for the site to function (e.g. session security for the contact form).
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics), if enabled, to measure site usage.
  • Advertising cookies (Google AdSense), used to serve and measure relevant adverts. See Google's advertising policy for details of how Google uses this data.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to request its correction or deletion, and to object to its processing. To exercise any of these rights, use the contact form.

Data retention

Contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records, after which they are deleted.

Third-party links

This site links out to venues' and suppliers' own websites, and in some places to third-party booking search tools (e.g. Booking.com). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party sites — check their own privacy policies before providing any personal information to them.
