Transport matters more in Scotland than some couples expect — many of the country's best venues are down single-track roads well outside town, so guests often need organised transport as much as the couple needs a wedding car.
What to look for
- A vehicle that can actually manage your venue's driveway or access road — some rural castles and barns have tight or unsurfaced approaches.
- A named, licensed, insured driver, and a written confirmation of pickup times and locations.
- A guest shuttle/minibus option if your venue is remote — this is often more useful to your guests than the car itself.
- A backup plan if a classic or vintage car breaks down.
Questions worth asking
- Is the driver licensed and insured for wedding hire specifically?
- What happens if the car breaks down or the weather is bad?
- Do you also offer guest shuttles, and how are those priced?
- Is there a mileage limit or extra charge if the venue is a long way from your base?
Typical price range in Scotland
A single classic or luxury car for a few hours is commonly £150–£350; a horse-drawn carriage or a fleet including a guest minibus will cost more. Always compare like-for-like: some quotes include only the "just married" journey, others cover the whole day.
