Photographers & Videographers
Photos (and increasingly film) are one of the few things you keep from the day itself, so most couples spend proportionally more here than on almost anything else.
What to look for
- A full gallery from at least two or three real weddings, not just a highlights reel — you want to see how they handle low light, group shots and the parts of the day that don't go to plan.
- A style that matches what you actually want: documentary/reportage, traditional posed, or a mix of both.
- Confirmation of who will actually turn up on the day, especially if you're booking through a small studio with more than one shooter.
- What's included: hours of coverage, number of edited images, turnaround time, and whether an album or prints cost extra.
Questions worth asking
- Have you shot at our venue before, or are you happy to visit beforehand?
- What happens if you're ill on the day — do you have a backup?
- How long after the wedding will we get our images, and in what format?
- Do you carry public liability insurance and backup equipment?
Typical price range in Scotland
Scottish wedding photography commonly runs from roughly £900–£1,000 for a shorter, single-shooter booking up to £2,500–£3,000+ for a full day with a second photographer and an album. Highland-based photographers often start a little lower than Edinburgh or Glasgow studios. Videography is usually priced separately, from a few hundred pounds for a short highlights film to well over £1,000 for full-day, multi-camera coverage.
