Many Scottish venues — especially hotels and castles — include catering as part of the package; others, particularly barns and blank-canvas estates, expect you to bring in your own caterer.
What to look for
- Whether your venue has a preferred-supplier list or an exclusive in-house kitchen (this can rule out bringing in your own caterer entirely).
- A tasting session before you commit, and a written quote that separates food, staff, hire of crockery/glassware, and VAT.
- Experience cooking for the numbers and format you want (plated meal vs. buffet vs. sharing platters vs. a hog roast).
- How they handle dietary requirements and allergens — ask for this in writing.

- Is this a fixed price per head, and what exactly does it include?
- Can we do a tasting, and is there a charge for it?
- How do you handle allergies and dietary requirements?
- Do you supply staff for service and clearing, and are they included in the quote?

Wedding catering in Scotland typically runs from around £45–£65 per head for a straightforward sit-down meal, up to £90–£120+ per head for a multi-course meal with waiting staff at a higher-end venue. Evening buffet food for extra guests is usually quoted separately, often £10–£20 per head.
